Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved books...
And like many little girls who grow up loving Ramona (Quimby) and Anne (Shirley) and Laura (Ingalls), my life took me down a path that included majoring in English (writing) in college, working in the publishing industry and (always) writing. Although I never truly outgrew my love of children's and young adult literature, my passion for it was rekindled when I had children of my own. I am passionate--some might even say obsessive--about passing my love of reading and literature down to my own children. And that is where this blog comes in.
Some of my best times with my boys have been spent cuddled up on the couch, reading book after book. Sometimes the books we've read have inspired us to get creative, to add yet another element to our enjoyment of our books.
My husband and I have been cooking with our kids since they were old enough to stand on a chair at the counter. Like reading, our times in the kitchen have provided quality family time and countless memories. This blog was born out of my idea to create a lunch based on The Monster Who Ate Darkness, a favorite book of my younger son.
Unless otherwise indicated, all recipes featured on this blog are my own. When applicable I credit the recipe's original source.
Please join us as we pair good books with good food. In the future, be on the lookout for cookbook reviews and author interviews. Above all, I hope this site encourages you and the children in your life to have fun reading and cooking together!
